The power of teammates

One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed coming from a small club to a big one are the dynamics within the team. There is something so powerful about showing up to practice every day ready to give it my all, and knowing all of my teammates are there for the same reason.

In practice, my teammates are my biggest competition. We race each other in every warm up, and compete to be the highest, the sharpest, the most extended, and the best throughout the practice. We constantly push each other to be the best versions of ourselves without even realizing it.

In competition, my teammates are my biggest supporters. Even if we are competing against each other, we are always cheering for one another. We get ready together, and help each other with our hair and makeup. Each victory for a teammate is a victory for the team. Even when we aren’t at the pool competing, we are at the hotel playing a very intense game of Uno or Cheat. This healthy competitive spirit fuels us to do our best and brings us together so that we can have the most unified and synchronized competition possible.

My love and passion for this sport pushes me to be the best I can but I would be nowhere near where I am if it weren’t for the people who surround, support, and challenge me every day. ❤️
